The city of Valencia hosted the regional final of Technovation Girls Comunitat Valenciana 2026 this past weekend. This international program, driven by València Innovation Capital, fosters entrepreneurship and technological vocations among girls and young women aged 8 to 18 through the development of social impact mobile applications.
The final took place at the Universitat Politècnica de València, bringing together dozens of participating teams who have spent recent months creating technological solutions to address real societal problems, combining programming, entrepreneurship, creativity, and teamwork.
The Councilor for Tourism, Innovation, and Investment Attraction, Paula Llobet, highlighted the importance of such programs in introducing technology to girls and adolescents in a practical, creative way, connected to real-world societal issues.
This year's challenge was “Reconectados” (Reconnected), initiated by València Innovation Capital, aiming to create apps that promote accessibility, cultural diversity, respect, and emotional well-being, demonstrating that technology can also be used to care for, include, and connect people.
Llobet emphasized that the València City Council prioritizes fostering STEM vocations and female technological entrepreneurship from an early age, recognizing that the future of innovation requires more women and talent.
Since 2018, Technovation Girls has held six editions in the Valencian Community, engaging over 2,000 girls, around 500 mentors, and collaborating with more than 30 companies and entities. The program aims to reduce the gender gap in scientific and technological fields.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Valencia to promote female STEAM vocations, including programs like STEM Talent Girl and collaborations with the Universitat de València. In 2025, over 2,500 women and girls participated in technology training, leadership, and entrepreneurship programs under València Innovation Capital.
Paula Llobet underscored the municipal goal for Valencia to remain a city committed to innovation and the talent of its young girls and women, building the future of technology today.
