Direct revenue linked to the Imserso program in Valencian hotels amounts to 100 million euros, with an additional 50 million from indirect effects on commerce, catering, and other services. Furthermore, the fiscal impact, primarily VAT, is estimated between 10 and 15 million euros. Hosbec emphasizes that establishments withdrawing from the program due to insufficient prices would directly affect revenue and the local economy.
The employers' association warns that the potential cessation of the program in the Valencian Community would not only harm hotels but the entire tourism sector linked to Imserso. The non-execution of this initiative could jeopardize numerous businesses dependent on this activity during the low season.
Destinations such as Benidorm, Jávea, Guardamar del Segura, Torrevieja, Dénia, L’Alfàs del Pi, Peñíscola, Oropesa del Mar, Vinaròs, or Gandia, which have historically hosted hotels participating in the program, could face a 'desert effect' if Imserso is not implemented in the Valencian territory. According to Hosbec, the program is a key tool for des-seasonalizing tourist demand and maintaining activity and employment during months with lower occupancy, thus supporting workforces and preventing winter closures.
Hosbec has reiterated its warnings about a growing number of Valencian establishments deciding not to participate in the upcoming season if tariffs are not increased. The association estimates that the actual cost of accommodating an Imserso user is 35 euros per person per day, while the remunerated tariff ranges between 28 and 30 euros, sometimes as low as 26 euros, making it unprofitable for many hotels.
In light of this situation, Hosbec has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the administration to find a solution that guarantees both the access of seniors to this social program and the economic viability of participating establishments. The employers' association considers a price revision reflecting actual hotel operating costs essential to maintain Imserso in the Valencian Community and preserve thousands of jobs.
