The Valencian company stood out at one of Latin America's leading international agri-food innovation events with its proposal to develop nanoencapsulated RNA-based biopesticides as an alternative for controlling crop diseases.
The award was presented during the fifth edition of the ftalks Food Summit LATAM, a forum promoted by the food innovation hub KM ZERO in collaboration with Deloitte. The event took place as part of THE FOOD TECH | SUMMIT & EXPO, one of the region's major agri-food fairs, which attracted 22,570 attendees.
Modoru Biotech's technology combines RNA and nanotechnology to design highly specific and biodegradable plant protection solutions. The company is developing biopesticides for controlling viral diseases in agriculture, including an RNA-based solution against the cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV).
One of the company's next challenges is the industrialization of this technology, with the aim of building a first-scale RNA manufacturing plant, as indicated by José María Delgado of Modoru Biotech in an interview.
Modoru Biotech's participation in Mexico is part of the Agrotech mission promoted by València Innovation Capital, which facilitated the presence of several Valencian companies at the event. The Future Market exhibition space hosted 46 startups from ten countries, offering them opportunities to present their solutions to investment funds and major agri-food companies.
For Modoru Biotech, the award represents international recognition for its technological proposal at a crucial time for the agri-food industry, which is seeking new solutions to protect crops and reduce the environmental impact of production.
