The Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMLCF) of the Valencian Community, based in Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia, have presented their Digital Transformation Plan 2026-2027.

The document, presented to the Conselleria de Justicia, Transparencia y Participación (Ministry of Justice, Transparency, and Participation), includes six strategic lines, 18 strategic objectives, and 42 operational objectives to strengthen the forensic public service and make the Valencian institutes a leading national digital model.
The digital transformation aims to ensure an excellent, transparent, and innovative service oriented towards citizens. Among the objectives already achieved is an interoperability mechanism with the National Statistics Institute to report on causes of death in judicial cases in real-time.
The Ministry and the IMLCF directorates are reinforcing their joint commitment to establish the Valencian Community as a benchmark in forensic digital transformation, projecting an image of rigor and modernity. The plan seeks not only to incorporate new technologies but also a cultural and organizational shift.
The IMLCF, which assist courts, tribunals, and public prosecutor's offices through medical expert evidence, aim with this plan to equip themselves with modern digital tools, standardized processes, and an innovative organizational culture. The initiative comes close to the 30th anniversary of the creation of Spain's first IMLCFs in 2028.
