The meeting with Geely focused particularly on talent and the opportunities that can be opened for UPV students through shared training programs, joint academic initiatives, international mobility, and projects linked to smart mobility, technology, and innovation.
Both parties also addressed potential lines of work related to joint research and international talent acquisition, facilitating exchanges of students and researchers between Hangzhou and Valencia.
The rector of UPV, José Capilla, highly valued this initial contact, stating that “the connection between university and industry is fundamental to offering our students training aligned with the major technological and business challenges of the future”. He also emphasized that “UPV's presence in Hangzhou will generate new collaboration opportunities with leading international companies and build stable bridges for innovation, talent, and research between China and Spain”.
José Capilla also noted that “Geely represents one of the most relevant examples of the Chinese technological and industrial ecosystem and shares with UPV a vision highly oriented towards innovation, advanced mobility, and the development of highly qualified talent”.
Representing Geely at the meeting were Shi Liangqing, General Manager of Geely Holding Group's Human Resources Center; Dai Huifang, Rector of Geely Academy and General Manager of the HR Shared Services Center; Li Haina, CHRO of Aurora Bay Company and Deputy Director of Geely's Propulsion Systems Research Institute; Zhang Jianguo, Deputy General Manager of Geely Automobile Group's International Division and Director of Talent Management; Yu Qinfei, University-Enterprise Cooperation Lead at the HR Shared Services Center; Li Xiaogang, HRBP Manager for China at Aurora Bay Company; and Li Huaqing, Public Relations and Communications Manager at the Geely Galaxy Brand Marketing Center.
This meeting is part of the institutional mission that UPV is currently undertaking in the Asian country to strengthen its international positioning and consolidate new academic and business alliances.
Among the agenda's key highlights was the BVPI's participation in the 11th Beihang University International Cultural Festival, an event held in Beijing that brings together students and institutions from numerous countries, serving as a major international showcase for the Chinese campus.
Furthermore, the first meeting of the BVPI's steering committee took place, where both universities (UPV-Beihang University) advanced the roadmap for the future international campus that UPV is promoting in Hangzhou alongside Beihang University.
