The technology of smart toilets, featuring bidet and self-cleaning functions, is becoming popular in Valencian homes, with models manufactured in Picassent.

What years ago was a Japanese eccentricity, smart toilets with bidet function, is beginning to be a common reality in many Valencian homes. The combination of comfort, hygiene, and the progressive decrease in prices are driving their demand.
These devices incorporate an adjustable nozzle that functions as a bidet, and the most advanced models include self-cleaning systems and ultraviolet light to ensure optimal hygiene. The technology, consolidated in Japan for decades, has found a new market in Europe.
The covid pandemic marked a turning point, according to Antonio Ortega, CEO of Nashi, a company from Picassent. The shortage of toilet paper and spending more time at home motivated greater investment in domestic comfort. Furthermore, prices have significantly reduced, from over 6,000 euros to models available for just over a thousand euros.
The market shows a sustained annual growth between 12% and 15%. Local manufacturing in the Valencian Community, such as that of the company Nashi in Picassent, demonstrates how a traditionally Asian product is gaining ground in the domestic market.
