The new photovoltaic installation, with a capacity of 120 kWp, will be located on the roof of an industrial warehouse in the El Forn d’Alcedo industrial park. This project, jointly promoted by the El Forn d’Alcedo Energy Community (CEdHdA) and the Castellar-l’Oliveral Local Energy Community (CEL), will not only serve these households but also companies, offices, an irrigation community, and dozens of residents from the southern districts of the city, reaching a total of 86 individual users and two local companies: Metalux and Aisval Garibo.
The Valencia City Council, through València Sostenible, will play a key role in identifying and integrating vulnerable households, working closely with municipal Social Services. The participation cost for these families will be collectively borne by the CEL Castellar-l’Oliveral, thanks to contributions from its members.
The Councilor for Climate Improvement and Energy Efficiency, Carlos Mundina, highlighted the social importance of this project: “This project demonstrates that the energy transition can and must also have a social dimension. Thanks to the collaboration between energy communities, companies, and public administration, we are ensuring that renewable energy also reaches those who need it most, moving towards a more sustainable, supportive, and resilient city”.
The CEdHdA, established in 2023 by companies in the industrial park, already launched its first installation in March 2024. For its part, the CEL Castellar-l’Oliveral, born as a pilot project in 2021, became the city's first local energy community, with 142 members.
This agreement comes in a context marked by recovery after the severe floods caused by the DANA on October 29, 2024. The president of CEdHdA, Salvador Monrabal, is confident that “this collaboration will be the start of more projects that will save more energy for the associated companies in the industrial park and for the individual users affiliated with CEL Castellar-l’Oliveral”.
Miguel Àngel Rodrigo, secretary of CEL Castellar-l’Oliveral, expressed the board of directors' satisfaction at reaching this final phase, highlighting the shared effort between the two communities and the pride in collaborating with València Sostenible to include vulnerable households, aligning with their foundational objectives.
