Unemployment falls in l'Alcoià and el Comtat, with services leading

Industry attracts 24.4% of job seekers, while services account for 62% of applications in these regions.

Unemployment in the regions of l'Alcoià and el Comtat saw a decrease of 73 people in April, bringing the total to 8,768 job seekers, with services and industry as the main sectors.

24.4% of job seekers in the regions of l'Alcoià (including Foia de Castalla) and el Comtat opt for industry, which in April registered a total of 2,143 applicants, according to Labora data. Meanwhile, services lead the list with 5,440 people, representing 62% of the total of 8,768 applicants recorded last month, following a decrease of 73 people compared to March.
According to the analysis carried out by the UGT union, most municipalities in these regions experienced a slight drop in unemployment. The most significant data are observed in Alcoy, with 68 fewer unemployed, and in Ibi, with 16 fewer unemployed. However, in Muro the figure increased by 14 unemployed. Thus, the unemployment rate is set at 4,142 in Alcoy, 1,416 in Ibi, and 570 in Muro. Towns such as Cocentaina and Castalla maintain similar levels to the previous month, with Cocentaina registering 762 registered (one less) and Castalla with 668 (two more).
Regarding the evolution by sectors, Construction and the Without Activity group added 6 and 4 more unemployed, respectively. The most notable decrease occurred in Services, with 69 fewer registered, followed by Agriculture with 8 fewer and Industry with a decrease of 6 people. The unemployment rates by sector are as follows: Agriculture 171, Construction 564, Industry 2,143, Services 5,440, and Without Activity 450 unemployed, as reported by UGT.
During April, the number of unemployed decreased for both women (39 fewer unemployed) and men (34 fewer unemployed). With this data, the female unemployment rate stands at 5,455 unemployed, a figure that

In this regard, UGT calls for employment policies that promote the incorporation of women into work under dignified and quality conditions, as well as the application of the same salaries as men, since, although these differences have been reduced over the last decade, they still exist in all sectors.
The age analysis shows a decrease in unemployment across all age groups. The most significant decrease was recorded among those over 44 years old, with 37 fewer unemployed, followed by the group of young people under 25 years old, with 19 fewer, and the group between 25 and 44 years old, with 17 fewer unemployed. The rates by age group in April are: 378 for young people under 25 years old, 5,552 for those over 44 years old, and 2,838 for the group between 25 and 44 years old.
