The CSIF union has warned of the serious situation affecting the Correos postal service in the province of Alicante, where over 100,000 notifications are pending delivery due to staff shortages and what it considers deficient management.

The CSIF union has warned of the serious situation affecting the Correos postal service in the province of Alicante, where it claims over 100,000 notifications are pending delivery due to a lack of staff and what it considers deficient management. According to the union, another 350,000 notifications sent by SUMA, which must be distributed before June 19, will be added to this figure.
CSIF maintains that this situation is causing significant delays in mail distribution, impacting delivery units, Correos offices, and the logistics center that handles mail for Alicante, Murcia, and other provinces in the region.
The union warns that thousands of citizens are experiencing delayed delivery of letters, administrative notifications, health cards, aid payments, and other important mail, some of which are subject to deadlines that could expire before reaching their recipients. It attributes these problems to a continuous policy of cutbacks and a failure to fill vacant positions.
CSIF further denounces that staff are working at their limit and that requests made over recent years to increase personnel have not been addressed by the company's management.
The union believes the situation could worsen during the summer. It points out that holidays and high temperatures will lead to numerous offices and delivery units operating with less than half the necessary staff, resulting in further delays and increased workload for employees.
Furthermore, CSIF asserts that a lack of foresight and dialogue is causing growing discontent among workers and links this situation to an increase in work-related absences, considering that workloads are reaching levels that are difficult to manage.
