Castellón de la Plana is hosting the International Ceramic Innovation Congress, named IGNITE, on September 28 and 29. The event, promoted by the Chamber of Commerce, was inaugurated by councilor Sergio Toledo, who highlighted the strong link between the city and the ceramic sector. Toledo spoke on behalf of the mayoress Begoña Carrasco.
During his speech, Toledo emphasized that "talking about ceramics is talking about our land, our economy, our businesses, and above all, the talent and effort of thousands of people who for decades have made Castellón an international benchmark." Facing a market that increasingly demands higher quality, better performance, and sustainable solutions, he defended the capacity of Castellón's companies to compete through innovation and design.
The councilor pointed out that "the future of the ceramic sector necessarily involves continuing to innovate, share knowledge, and connect research, industry, architecture, design, and technology." In this regard, he positively valued that IGNITE brings together the different sector agents in Castellón to address key issues such as decarbonization, industrial digitalization, new materials, and the evolution of international markets.
Sergio Toledo reiterated the City Council's support for initiatives that generate opportunities for local businesses. He recalled that the specifications for new municipal works already include the requirement to use Castellón ceramics. He cited as examples its presence on Ferrandis Salvador avenue, the Sant Antoni Market, the new Parkinson center, and the Municipal Library 5.0. Furthermore, it will be included in future projects such as the Central Market, the South and Grau mayoralties, and the Pergola. "We want our city to be the best showcase of what we know how to do," he stated.
