The agricultural organization ASAJA Alicante has announced the celebration of the XVI edition of The Night of Alicante Agriculture, an event that will bring together over 350 representatives from the province's socioeconomic and agricultural fabric. The gala, scheduled for June 4th, will highlight the main challenges facing Alicante's countryside, such as water uncertainty, pests, rising production costs, and unfair competition.
During this evening, six outstanding initiatives from 2025 will be awarded, representing different ways of keeping Alicante's countryside alive and adapting it to current challenges without abandoning its roots. These honorees are farmers, ranchers, companies, and institutions demonstrating effort, deep-rootedness, innovation, and defense of the sector.
Among the awardees is Ovidio Más Sala (Llíber), representing the fifth generation linked to the 'Escaldà de la Pansa' (raisin drying process), keeping alive a cultural and agricultural tradition of the Marina Alta region. Raúl García Vidal (La Romana) receives the Young Farmer award for his company Penyafresh, dedicated to the production and marketing of vegetables and fruits. The award for Livestock Reference goes to Irene and Jesús Gómez Calcerrada (Ibi), who are maintaining rabbit farming in the province.
The Rural Woman award goes to Esther Díaz Sabater (Agost), a producer of bagged grapes from the Vinalopó region and founder of the brand Uvas Amaia. The Elche City Council (Elche) is recognized for Promoting and Boosting the Countryside, highlighting its commitment to the Camp d’Elx and the defense of the Tajo-Segura water transfer. Finally, Finca Morote (Alicante) receives the Agri-food Trajectory award for its work in preserving historical grape varieties and its century-old olive oil mill.
