Asaja Alicante is organizing the Alicante Agriculture Night on June 4th, a pivotal event for the agricultural sector that will gather more than 350 representatives from business organizations, cooperatives, quality labels, public administrations, irrigation communities, agricultural entities, farmers, and ranchers from the province.
The 16th edition of the Asaja Alicante Awards will highlight the current challenges facing Alicante's agriculture, such as water uncertainty, management of emerging pests and diseases, rising production costs, unfair competition from trade agreements with third countries, and the constant threat to farm profitability.
Six awardees will be the focus of the evening, representing effort, roots, innovation, and defense of the agricultural sector. These figures, including farmers, ranchers, companies, and institutions, exemplify the diverse ways of keeping Alicante's countryside alive and adapting it to present challenges without abandoning its heritage.
The Alicante Agriculture Night is an emblematic event for the sector, bringing together over 350 representatives.
Among the awardees are Ovidio Más Sala (Llíber), who keeps the tradition of 'Escaldà de la Pansa' alive; Raúl García Vidal (La Romana), a young farmer who founded the company Penyafresh; Irene and Jesús Gómez Calcerrada (Ibi), representing the continuity of rabbit farming; Esther Díaz Sabater (Agost), founder of the brand Uvas Amaia; the Elche City Council, recognized for its commitment to the Camp d’Elx and defense of the Tajo-Segura water transfer; and Finca Morote (Alicante), a symbol of resistance for the Huerta de Alicante.
