Since this Wednesday, the supermarket chain has applied this bonus, based on the Decree Law of the Government of the Canary Islands. This regulation seeks to mitigate the economic effects derived from the international crisis in the Middle East and alleviate the financial burden on families.
Among the items benefiting from this reduction are daily consumption products such as butter, salt, and coffee, which have a direct impact on family budgets. Although the legislation does not oblige distribution companies to pass this bonus on to the final price, Mercadona has chosen to apply the reduction in full, ensuring that the benefit reaches consumers directly.
The company estimates that the total savings for Canarian households will amount to approximately one million euros per year. The implementation of this measure was carried out immediately from the opening of its establishments, thus guaranteeing transparency and speed in applying the discount.
This action by Mercadona positions it as one of the first companies in the sector to directly pass on the IGIC reduction to its customers, reinforcing the effectiveness of the decree and facilitating access to essential products at more affordable prices throughout the archipelago.
