Air Canada will inaugurate direct flights to Tenerife from Toronto and Montreal starting in October, solidifying the island's connectivity with the North American market.

The new operation, which will run throughout the winter season until April, represents a strategic step for the repositioning of Tenerife in the tourism market of Canada and the United States. The Canadian flag carrier will operate three weekly frequencies to Tenerife South Airport, facilitating passenger flow and connections to major U.S. cities.
Air Canada's planned schedule for these new transatlantic routes includes two weekly flights from Toronto starting October 25, operating on Thursdays and Sundays to the island, with returns on Mondays and Fridays. From Montreal, there will be a weekly connection starting October 31, with a flight on Saturdays and the return to Canada on Sundays.

"This achievement is the crystallization of a strategic objective to attract a source market that directly contributes to the diversification of the island's tourism offerings."

Lope Afonso · Vice President and Tourism Counselor of the Cabildo
One of the main novelties of these transatlantic journeys is the use of the Airbus A321XLR, a single-aisle aircraft designed for long-haul flights. With a capacity for 182 passengers, the aircraft offers 14 Signature Class seats with luxurious lie-flat seats and 168 Economy Class seats with a renewed design to maximize comfort during the transatlantic crossing.

"The arrival of Air Canada attracts a high-value traveler to the destination."

Dimple Melwani · CEO of Turismo de Tenerife
Air Canada's decision aligns with the growing North American interest in Tenerife. In 2025, the island received 38,119 passengers from Canada and the United States. The Canadian market, in particular, has shown remarkable growth, increasing from just over 3,000 visitors in 2019 to over 8,000 last year. U.S. tourists, who already exceed 30,000 annual visitors, seek outdoor experiences and value the authenticity, gastronomy, and heritage of Tenerife's towns.
