This decrease represents a change in trend after three consecutive months of increase, largely attributable to temporary hirings generated by Easter. Compared to the same period last year, the province has 1,495 fewer unemployed people, which translates into a year-on-year decrease of 3.79%.
Regarding employment, the province of Tarragona registered an increase of 7,431 people in March, a 2.17% rise, making it the Catalan province with the best results. This increase has raised the number of affiliates to Social Security to 350,125. In the last year, 9,697 new jobs have been created, a growth of 2.85%.
Analyzing the data by gender, of the 37,954 unemployed, 15,511 are men and 22,443 are women. Within this total, 2,911 unemployed are under 25 years old. By economic sectors, the services sector continues to concentrate the largest number of unemployed people, with 26,861 unemployed. This is followed by industry with 3,307, construction with 2,855, and agriculture with 1,344.
