The autonomous community recorded an increase of 50,543 average affiliates in March 2026, the highest figure since records began in 2004. This surge brings the total number of contributors to 3,558,969, exceeding the previous peak of 3,543,388 reached in May of last year. This growth is primarily attributed to the dynamism of the hospitality and construction sectors.
The hospitality (including accommodation services) and construction sectors have been the main drivers of this expansion, generating more than half of the new jobs. Hospitality added 19,433 average affiliates, while construction contributed 7,017. Agriculture also showed a recovery, with 3,276 new jobs, boosted by the strawberry campaign in Huelva, which alone accounted for 23,216 new affiliates.
All sectors, with the exception of household activities as employers (with a minimal reduction of six affiliates), have experienced growth. Self-employed workers have also reached a record high, approaching 600,000, with 594,168 registered in Andalucía after the incorporation of 3,004 new individuals.
Regarding unemployment, the number of unemployed people has decreased by 8,836, falling below 580,000 for the first time since June 2008. This reduction is significantly higher than the previous year (-1,252) and represents the largest year-on-year drop in March since 2023, with 63,584 fewer unemployed people than twelve months ago.
Andalucía leads the national decline in unemployment, accounting for approximately 35% of the total drop in Spain during March. In year-on-year terms, it is the second autonomous community with the highest percentage reduction (-9.89%), only surpassed by Extremadura. However, in job creation, although affiliation rises slightly more in Andalucía (2.63% compared to 2.46% nationally), other communities such as the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, and Murcia surpass it in the percentage of new affiliates over the last year.
