According to data provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, this figure represents a 1.5% decrease compared to the previous month, bringing the total number of unemployed individuals to 579,638. This outcome positions Andalucía as the main driver of the unemployment fall in Spain.
The decline in unemployment was observed in seven of the eight Andalusian provinces. Cádiz led the reduction with 2,352 fewer unemployed, followed by Seville with 1,939, Málaga with 1,863, Granada with 1,187, Huelva with 1,021, Córdoba with 499, and Almería with 33. The only province where unemployment saw a slight increase was Jaén, with 58 more jobless individuals.
On a year-on-year basis, the Andalusian labor market shows a sustained positive trend, accumulating a decrease of 63,584 people, which translates to a 9.89% reduction. By sector, Services contributed the most to this improvement, with 7,351 fewer unemployed, followed by Construction (-2,167) and Industry (-527). However, Agriculture and the group Without Previous Employment saw an increase in unemployment, with 522 and 687 more jobless individuals, respectively.
The reduction in unemployment affected both genders, although it was more pronounced among women. The number of unemployed women decreased by 5,746 (-1.58%), totaling 356,643, while male unemployment fell by 3,090 (-1.36%), reaching 222,995 men in this situation.
Nationally, unemployment also experienced a drop of 22,934 people in March, a 0.9% decrease, reaching the lowest level for this month in the last 18 years. Andalucía, along with Catalonia and the Valencian Community, accounted for a significant portion of this overall decline.
