The Community of Madrid is undertaking a five-day institutional mission to Japan, led by the Minister of Economy, Rocío Albert, aiming to attract strategic investments and bolster the region's technological sector.

The Madrid region aims to showcase its potential to international corporations, venture capital funds, and Asian startups. The delegation, including the director of Invest in Madrid, Luis Socías, will hold high-level meetings with leading firms such as Canon, Mitsubishi, and NTT, as well as engage with Spanish companies operating internationally like Gestamp.
The institutional agenda also includes contacts with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the signing of a commercial agreement with the prefecture of Aichi. This agreement will build upon the strategic partnership established by the President of the Community of Madrid in July 2024.

A high value-added investment is a capital placement focused on technological or innovative industrial sectors that generate skilled employment and a strong economic impact.

Japan is consolidating its position as the primary Asian investor in Spain, with Madrid leading the attraction of this capital. Since the current administration took office, the region has secured over 74% of Japanese capital destined for Spain, exceeding 2.86 billion euros. The accumulated Japanese investment stock in Madrid stands at 10.668 billion euros, accounting for 72.4% of the national total.
Japanese subsidiaries established in the Community of Madrid are significant job creators, currently sustaining 13,616 direct jobs, which represents nearly a quarter of the total employment generated by these multinational corporations across the country.
