In the cumulative total for 2026, figures stand at 340,586 units, marking a 6.39% growth compared to the same period last year. Nationally, 101,949 units were registered in July, a 3.7% increase from the same month in 2025, surpassing the 100,000-unit threshold for the fifth consecutive month.
The July increase was driven by positive performance across all sales channels: private individuals (51,539 registrations, +1.7%), companies (38,138 units, +2.2%), and 'rent a car' (12,272 entries, +18.9%). 'Renting' services registered 24,428 cars, a 6.8% increase.
In the year-to-date figures, the private individual channel grew by 6.5% (327,457 registrations), the corporate channel by 3.9% (244,472 sales), and 'rent a car' by 7.5% (177,727 registrations). 'Renting' accounted for 192,661 vehicles, a 10.9% increase.
Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) rose by 23.4% in July (10,722 units, 10.5% market share), while Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) grew by 17.8% (14,507 units, 14.2% market share). Electrified cars (BEV+PHEV) totaled 25,229 units in July (+20.1%), representing 24.7% of the market. Year-to-date, electrified sales increased by 34.9% (166,372 units, 22.2% share).
Non-plug-in hybrids (HEVs) remain the most popular choice, with 47,636 operations in July (+19.1%) and a 46.7% share. Conversely, combustion engine vehicles continue their downward trend: gasoline sales fell by 21.2% (22,193 units, 21.8% share), and diesel plummeted by 46.4% (2,807 units, 2.8% share).
Gas-powered vehicles saw a 4.3% year-on-year increase (4,804 units, 4% market share). The average CO₂ emissions for cars sold in July were 100 grams per kilometer, a 2% decrease from July 2025.
In the light commercial vehicle segment, registrations grew by 2.8% (18,048 units). Industrial vehicles increased by 20.6% (2,969 units), and buses and coaches saw a 48% rise.
The automotive sector celebrates the "good" market performance. According to Félix García, Anfac's Director of Communication, forecasts indicate that the year will close with well over 1.2 million car registrations, partly due to the "certainty" generated by the approval of the Auto+ Plan.
