According to data released by the National Statistics Institute, unemployment in the region fell by 8,700 people between April and June. This figure brings the total number of unemployed to 297,900, representing an unemployment rate of 7.58 percent, the lowest level for a second quarter since 2008.
The regional labor market has shown significant absorption capacity, creating 62,100 new jobs during this period. With this progress, the total number of employed people in the Community of Madrid has reached 3,631,300, marking a historical high for a second quarter.
Hiring momentum has been concentrated primarily in the private sector, which added 57,100 workers, while the public sector incorporated 5,100 new employees. Additionally, job stability has increased, with an rise of 45,600 salaried workers on permanent contracts.
By sector, unemployment has declined across all major areas, with the Services sector standing out with 11,700 fewer unemployed. Conversely, there has been an increase in the number of people seeking their first job or those who have been out of the labor market for more than a year.
