The winery Bodegas Carrascas, based in El Bonillo (Albacete), has launched a new phase prioritizing its expansion in Madrid. This initiative coincides with the appointment of Manuel Emilio Arroyo as general manager and the introduction of new wine references, such as the 2025 vintage of El Tomillo y el Viento Bailan.
The company's strategy aims to consolidate its presence in the capital through actions targeting the restaurant industry and gastronomic training. This move occurs amidst a booming Madrid wine and culinary scene, seeking to introduce Madrid consumers to a winemaking project developed over twenty years in Castilla-La Mancha.
Carrascas, founded in 2004 by the Payá family, cultivates its vineyards at an altitude of 1,000 meters. The winery is known for its original wine names, inspired by landscape and nature, such as La Torpe Avutarda Descansa or Y Solo Cuando el Río Calla.
Recently, several of its wines have received awards in prestigious competitions. At CINVE 2026 and Virtus 2026, the winery secured multiple Grand Gold awards, notably for the 2022 and 2025 vintages of wines like Y Solo Cuando el Río Calla and El Tomillo y el Viento Bailan.
The arrival of Manuel Emilio Arroyo, who brings extensive industry experience, strengthens the management structure to enhance brand positioning and explore new markets. The company also acknowledged the significant work of Rafael Veas in consolidating the project.
The choice of Madrid as an expansion focus is due to its vibrant gastronomic scene and its role as a meeting point for professionals and enthusiasts. The winery plans to be present in establishments like El Secr3to and D3s3o, as well as in training activities at centers such as Mom Culinary Institute.
The new phase coincides with the commercialization of the 2025 vintage of El Tomillo y el Viento Bailan, a white wine made from Viognier, with a production of 11,000 bottles. This expansion in Madrid marks another step in Carrascas' consolidation in the national market.
