Unemployment in Comunitat Valenciana Reaches Lowest Figure Since 2008

The province of Castellón leads the monthly decline with 1.18%, while the Comunitat registers 288,162 unemployed.

The Comunitat Valenciana has recorded its lowest unemployment figure since September 2008, with 288,162 people, while the province of Castellón leads the monthly decline with 1.18%.

The province of Castellón concluded the month of March with 31,419 unemployed individuals, showing a 1.18% decrease compared to the previous month and a 6% year-on-year reduction. This improvement aligns with the general recovery of the labor market, although the total number of unemployed in the province remains above 31,000 people.
Across the Comunitat Valenciana, unemployment decreased by 2,467 people during March, bringing the total figure to 288,162 unemployed. This data represents a monthly decrease of 0.9% and positions the Comunitat as the third Spanish autonomous community with the largest reduction in unemployment this month. Furthermore, it marks three consecutive months among the regions with the highest annual decline.
The reduction in unemployment has been observed across all productive sectors, with a notable decrease in construction by -13%, followed by agriculture with -10%, industry with -8.04%, and services with -6.4%. By groups, there has been a significant decrease in female unemployment, with 1,632 fewer unemployed women in March, and a 4.6% year-on-year drop in youth unemployment.
In parallel, affiliation to Social Security has reached a historic high in the Comunitat Valenciana, with 2,263,853 people, following a monthly growth of 0.97%. The year-on-year increase is 3.58%, with 78,186 new affiliates, surpassing the national average. The Comunitat also leads the increase in self-employed workers in Spain for the third consecutive month, with 12,012 more affiliates and a growth of 3.17%.

The President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, emphasized that active employment policies have contributed to improving qualifications and facilitating job placement. The Consell remains committed to measures that foster stable job creation and economic growth, including the Training Plan 2026, endowed with nearly 200 million euros for over 4,100 training actions and the improvement of qualifications for 58,000 people.
