Unemployment in the Valencian Community Drops by 2,467 in March, Alicante Leads the Decline

The number of unemployed individuals in the Valencian Community saw a decrease of 2,467 in March, a 0.85% reduction from the previous month, bringing the total to 288,162 unemployed, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.

This monthly reduction adds to a positive annual trend, with 19,440 fewer unemployed compared to the previous year, representing a 6.32% drop. The improvement was observed across all three Valencian provinces.
By province, Alicante led the decrease with 1,213 fewer unemployed, a 1.03% drop. It was followed by Valencia, with 879 fewer unemployed (-0.63%), and Castellón, which registered a decrease of 375 people (-1.18%). These figures highlight a favorable evolution of the regional labor market during March.
Nationally, employment also reached historic milestones. The Social Security system added 211,510 affiliates in March, the largest increase for this month in the historical series, reaching a total of 21,882,147 employed individuals. In seasonally adjusted terms, the figure surpassed 22 million affiliates, with a year-on-year growth of over 523,000 workers.
The boost in employment was particularly strengthened by the hospitality sector, which incorporated 79,701 employed individuals thanks to the Easter holiday campaign. Furthermore, labor reform has contributed to an improvement in employment quality, with 4.7 million more workers on permanent contracts and almost 1.85 million fewer on temporary contracts.
The special regime for self-employed workers also showed growth, adding 14,920 affiliates in March and reaching a total of 3,429,534 self-employed individuals, with an annual increase of over 40,000. Registered unemployment in Spain fell by 22,934 people, standing at 2,419,712 unemployed, the lowest figure for a March month in 18 years.
