Union representatives have expressed their concern to political groups regarding the viability of the production plants. According to the council, the current situation puts the continuity of the chemical industry in the country at risk, warning that a potential closure could trigger a domino effect on other companies in the Tarragona petrochemical cluster.
During the meeting, workers highlighted the strategic nature of these facilities, especially in a context of international instability. They recalled that domestic production capacity is key to avoiding dependence on foreign markets in the face of potential armed conflicts.
The company's management announced on June 3rd the intention to cut 138 jobs at its state plants. Although the affected positions have not yet been specified, staff representatives noted that the company is preparing the documentation and that formal negotiations could begin in September.
