Catalan multinational Fluidra has announced the acquisition of the Datapool platform, an application designed to optimize water consumption and improve the management of aquatic facilities, aiming to reduce operational costs.

As detailed by the company in a statement, Datapool will enable, through an application, the optimization of water consumption in an installation without the need for construction. It also allows for real-time monitoring and adjustment of key parameters such as water temperature or quality, and generates automatic reports on service status. Fluidra estimates that operators will be able to reduce operational costs for each facility by 10% to 25% thanks to this new tool.
This acquisition is part of the 20 million euro investment that the Catalan company initiated in 2024 with the creation of Fluidra Ventures, an investment fund aimed at finding pioneering start-ups in the pool and wellness sector. The company, headquartered in Sant Cugat del Vallès, had previously invested in the share capital of Ecotropy, the company behind Datapool, but without fully integrating the platform into its digital ecosystem for commercial pools.
For Thorsten Muck, commercial director of Fluidra's pool division, the acquisition marks "a milestone" in the group's digitalization strategy. "Datapool allows us to accelerate the transition towards an intelligent pool management model, improving efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and offering customers data-driven tools," he stated. The new tool will be aimed at both private and commercial clients, as it also allows for tracking data such as capacity or energy consumption in large facilities.
This operation continues Fluidra's acquisition strategy to complement its activity in the pool sector. During the first quarter of this year, the company completed the purchase of Dutch commercial pool constructor Variopool for around 20 million euros. Additionally, it agreed to acquire distributor Riaan Pool in South Africa and concluded an initial investment in Aiper, a manufacturer of wireless pool cleaning robots, acquiring 27% of its capital for 92.5 million euros.
