Barcelona is set to welcome a new sports facility in one of its most iconic commercial spaces. The chain Fitness Park has announced the upcoming opening of a large 2,000 square meter gym at the El Triangle shopping center, located in Plaça Catalunya. This move marks the first time a brand from the sector will establish itself in this key hub of the Catalan capital.
The inauguration is scheduled for early 2027 and will feature a significant innovation: the center will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. The company aims to remove time limitations to facilitate access to physical activity at any moment. The choice of location is strategic, given the high foot traffic at Plaça Catalunya, one of the city's main connection points. The standard monthly membership is expected to be around 27 euros, with a 30 euro joining fee.
With this expansion, Fitness Park is reinforcing its strategy to grow across Spain and seeking to enhance its visibility in one of Barcelona's most sought-after locations. The new facilities will boast state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated areas for weightlifting, functional training, cross-training, powerlifting, and cardio. It will also incorporate specific zones for HYROX, a fitness discipline experiencing significant international growth.
“"Our mission has always been to lead the fitness revolution by offering a premium and accessible training experience for everyone."
The chain, originally from France, will expand to Barcelona, bringing its total to 90 gyms spread across more than fifty municipalities in Spain. The future opening at Plaça Catalunya aims to solidify the brand as a leading operator in the fitness sector and transform one of Barcelona's busiest areas into a new meeting point for sports enthusiasts.
The exact space within El Triangle that the gym will occupy has not yet been disclosed. Possibilities include an upper floor or a surface area currently without visible commercial use. The space formerly occupied by FNAC, which is set to become a 6,500 m² Media Markt, will not be affected by this new opening.
