The Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and Prous Institute for Biomedical Research are entering the third year of their alliance to advance innovative biomedical research projects, supported by the FIT Program.
The alliance between VHIR and Prous Institute, now in its third year, primarily aims to foster cutting-edge biomedical research. During this period, the collaboration has strengthened VHIR's innovation activities and supported initiatives with the potential to translate scientific breakthroughs into applicable clinical solutions.
The collaboration is channeled through the FIT Program (Technology Development Fund), which combines financial support with specialized advisory services. This program facilitates the development of innovative projects in their early stages, covering areas such as new drug development, medical devices, digital health solutions, novel therapies, and diagnostic technologies.
Since the program's inception, 47 project proposals have been received, with 21 securing funding. These initiatives contribute to enhancing VHIR's capacity to translate research outcomes into potential health applications.
In addition to financial support, Prous Institute's involvement as a mentor within VHIR's Directorate of Innovation and Business Development brings expertise in managing and evaluating innovation projects, thereby optimizing selection and support processes.
“
"The FIT Program is a key tool for advancing innovative projects in the challenging early stages of their development, where financial support and specialized guidance can be decisive for their transfer. The collaboration with Prous Institute allows us to strengthen this support model and continue fostering synergies between biomedical research and the private sector."
“
"This collaboration enables us to contribute to the development of biomedical research projects with impactful potential, aligning with our commitment to innovation and the identification of new therapeutic and diagnostic solutions. Continuing to work with VHIR provides an opportunity to support initiatives that can improve people's health and quality of life."
Upon completion of this third year, Prous Institute will conclude its participation in the FIT Program. However, both institutions will maintain their collaboration in other areas, aiming to continue promoting biomedical research and innovation initiatives.
