The Generalitat de Catalunya and the company Indra are collaborating to boost the defense industry in the region, with a conference in Barcelona bringing together key public and private sector players.

The event, which will be closed by the president of the Generalitat, will feature the participation of several Government members, including the CEO of Acció, the public agency for competitiveness, and the general director of knowledge transfer and society. Additionally, representatives from entities such as i2CAT, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech, and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center will attend.
During the conference, Indra will present its Growth Plan in Catalonia, aiming to strengthen its capabilities in dual technologies, applicable in both civil and military fields, as well as in cybersecurity, cyberdefense, and space. Currently, the company manages over 365 million euros in business from the Catalan territory and employs more than 3,500 workers across the four provinces.

"Catalonia cannot escape the European commitment to developing its military and defense industry."

the Minister of Foreign Action of the Generalitat
In a previous meeting at the Cambra de Barcelona, Indra's CEO highlighted the company's role as a "driving force" to promote the dual industry in Catalonia, emphasizing the existing "potential" in the region. In the same vein, the Minister of Foreign Action of the Generalitat defended the need for Catalonia to align with the European commitment to the military and defense industry. His counterpart in the Business and Work portfolio assured that the Catalan Administration has supported this industry from the outset.
Recently, Indra has been in the news due to changes in its shareholding, with the departure of some significant investors. The company is considered strategic, with the State as the main shareholder, holding 28% of the shares.
