The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has launched a Smart Destination Platform and a digital twin, funded with 1.2 million euros from Next Generation funds, to modernize municipal management and real-time decision-making.

These tools aim to unify all relevant municipal data to optimize public administration. This digitalization will allow for instant data collection in areas such as traffic, waste management, security, public lighting, beaches, and commerce.
The digital twin is a hyper-realistic 3D representation of the municipality, with a minimal error margin of just five centimeters per pixel. This virtual mesh, developed by a software company, facilitates organic observation and analysis of the territory, enabling the City Council to effectively coordinate different administrative areas and streamline operations. Collaboration is already underway with firefighters and police to explore applications in security and emergencies.

"The soul of this project is its transversality and that it is aimed at the entire society, whether resident citizens or visitors."

Among the planned use cases, the “fifteen-minute city” module stands out, which will allow the City Council to identify the proximity of essential services for citizens. This will help in taking measures to improve access to these services in specific areas, especially for the elderly.
Regarding security, efforts are being made to provide firefighters with access to public water data, locating fire hydrants and their capacity on the digital map. The platform will also enable simulations of ravine overflows due to adverse weather conditions, studying how to divert water to minimize damage.
In urban planning, the almost one hundred percent faithful reproduction of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and its constantly growing database will facilitate the detection of irregularities, such as illegal houses or unauthorized holiday homes. In traffic, the tool will show areas of high vehicle flow and peak hours for more efficient management.
The platform will also offer functions for citizens and private companies. Residents and tourists will be able to consult the most visited businesses, while entrepreneurs can analyze the impact of events on their businesses. The project, managed by the Department of Presidency and European Projects, is scheduled for completion by June 30.
