The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana recognized the career of the hotel company Princess Hotels & Resorts, managed in the islands by Daniel Salat Puignero, during the 2026 SBT Entrepreneurs Awards ceremony. Salat, originally from Reus, Tarragona, fulfilled his childhood dream of managing a hotel, a vocation solidified after studying Business Administration and beginning his journey with the company in 1984.
His career with the company took a decisive turn in 1986 with the inauguration of the Hotel H10 Lanzarote Princess, where he took charge of Administration, Personnel, and Purchasing. Moving to Lanzarote marked the beginning of an adventure that made him fall in love with the Archipelago and its people, whom he describes as friendly and approachable. He later moved to Tenerife in 1988 as deputy director of the Hotel Guayarmina Princess, and in 1993, he took over the management of the Hotel Taurito Princess in Gran Canaria, the island where he has spent most of his career.
Over the years, Salat has held various management positions within the chain in Gran Canaria, including the Hotel Gran Canaria Princess, an adults-only establishment, Mogán Princess, and Maspalomas Princess. His experience and leadership led him to unify the management of all the chain's complexes on the island. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he was appointed general director of Princess Hotels & Resorts in the Canary Islands, a position he holds today.
With 42 years of professional experience in the islands, Salat considers himself a Canary Islander. The award received at the SBT Entrepreneurs Awards gala is, as he emphasizes, a recognition of the entire company team, highlighting 'human factor' as the key to success and customer loyalty. He recalls anecdotes from his arrival, such as his initial unfamiliarity with Canarian expressions, and encourages young entrepreneurs to pursue their goals.
