Vehicle registrations in the Canary Islands grow 5% in July, but the year-to-date remains negative

Sales of passenger cars and SUVs increased in the seventh month, driven by the private buyer channel, although the annual balance remains downward.

Vehicle registrations in the Canary Islands reached 9,116 units in July, a 4.69% increase from the previous year, although the year-to-date cumulative figure shows a 3.77% drop.

In the Canary Islands, 9,116 vehicle units were registered during the month of July, representing a 4.69% increase compared to the same month last year. However, the cumulative balance for the year remains negative, with a total of 46,832 vehicles registered, a 3.77% decrease, according to data from Fredica.
Within the passenger car and SUV segment, the main market in the islands, 6,259 registrations were recorded, a 3.03% increase compared to July of the previous year. Despite this monthly improvement, the year-to-date cumulative for this segment continues to show a downward trend, with a 7.18% decline and a total of 30,414 vehicles.
The private buyer channel has demonstrated its strength, experiencing a 6.62% growth in July and a cumulative increase of 13.21%, consolidating it as the main support of the market.
The rental channel saw a temporary recovery in July, with a 15.62% increase, although it accumulates a significant drop of 33.82% over the entire year.
On the other hand, the company channel decreased by 23.63% in July and maintains a cumulative decline of 8.02%.
In the commercial vehicle market, registrations increased by 12.84% during the month. The year-to-date cumulative remains practically balanced, with a slight drop of 0.45%.
Industrial vehicles also showed a monthly recovery, with a 25.68% growth. However, they continue to register a cumulative decrease of 20.46%, reflecting the investment caution of companies.
Finally, the motorcycle market maintains a favorable trend, with a 5.20% increase in July and a cumulative rise of 8.01%, positioning itself as the segment with the best performance so far this year.
