The project aims to modernize the logistics sector and resolve the operational challenges faced by professionals in the capital of Gran Canaria. A working group composed of municipal technicians and representatives from the private entity has been established to collect strategic data on urban distribution flows.
The city stands out for its logistical complexity, stemming from its high population density and intense commercial and tourist activity. Experts note that the diversity of urban environments, including pedestrian zones and areas with access restrictions, requires tailored planning to ensure the efficient supply of catering and hospitality establishments.
“"We must register how many loading and unloading zones Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has and analyze if they are located in the right places."
The methodology will include both the analysis of public sources and field surveys aimed at the transport sector, businesses, and citizens. This diagnosis will allow for concrete proposals, such as the digitalization of loading and unloading areas, the potential implementation of urban distribution hubs, or the flexibilization of delivery schedules.
The ultimate goal is to make Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a benchmark for sustainable mobility, leveraging public-private collaboration as the main driver to implement technological solutions that optimize goods traffic management in the urban environment.
