The Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables (ITER) has consolidated its genomic analysis project, integrating advanced sequencing capabilities to advance personalized medicine from Tenerife.

The project, known as the Massive Genomic Data Analysis Service (SAMDG), serves as the backbone for R&D activity within the ITER genomics division. This initiative aims to align the island's scientific resources with national and European strategies in the field of precision medicine.
The infrastructure currently enables high-throughput sequencing of nucleic acids, including DNA and RNA. Recent technical additions include technology for human proteome analysis and methylome sequencing, which are key tools for epigenetic research.
Since its inception, the laboratory has completed the analysis of tens of thousands of genomes and exomes. Furthermore, the center has collaborated in national pathogen surveillance networks, including the study of respiratory viruses, and participates as a national sequencing center in research projects regarding pulmonary diseases.
The center's scientific excellence has been recognized through its establishment as a unit associated with the CSIC, in collaboration with the Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology. The development of this project has been supported by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife through various funding lines and innovation plans.
