The executives of Dreamland Studios, the film complex planned for the El Cortijo golf course in Telde, have still not presented the required documentation to the Cabildo for the definitive approval of this project of insular interest. The Minister of Territorial Policy, Inés Miranda, revealed during the June plenary session, in response to a question from the PP spokesperson, Miguel Jorge, that the promoters have requested and obtained a new extension, the third, which expires in early September.
Miranda detailed that the documentation repeatedly requested by her department, and which the promoters "must have," has not been submitted. This is the same documentation that the Cabildo has been requesting since January 2025.
The minister indicated that the sole obstacle might be the agreement with the City Council of Telde, which is necessary to obtain the municipal building permit. This agreement entails a series of compensations from Dreamland Studios to the Telde council, such as the free transfer of urbanized land or payment of its market value, in addition to reserves for public open spaces, amenities, and facilities.
“"I believe they will provide it."
The project, declared of insular interest in May 2023, has undergone modifications, reducing its buildable area and facing objections regarding its road connection to the GC-1 highway. Despite the delays, the project has received a subsidy of nearly 13.18 million euros in regional investment incentives, with an estimated total investment of 54.9 million and the creation of 185 direct jobs.
