The initiative, managed by the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), will fund specialized training programs and paid non-employment internships. The objective is to address the challenges of innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation, thereby strengthening the productive sector's capacity to integrate new knowledge.
The Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture is promoting this call, which has 85% funding from the European Social Fund Plus. The grants are aimed at non-profit entities developing training programs that combine theoretical content with practical experience in real work environments.
Participants will receive training and undertake paid internships in organizations linked to the projects, improving their qualifications and facilitating access to positions in innovation, digitalization, and sustainability. Companies, in turn, will be able to incorporate profiles capable of contributing knowledge and reinforcing their transformation strategies.
Minister Migdalia Machín highlighted that “innovation needs talent” to be a “true lever for transformation” and that Diginnova continues to “strengthen” the connection between training and business to prepare Canary Islands professionals for future challenges.
Grants will be awarded through a competitive bidding process, evaluating the number of trainees, accreditation by higher education centers, and the territorial scope of the proposals. Projects with the greatest capacity to extend their benefits throughout the Archipelago will be prioritized, with a maximum duration of 18 months.
Machín stated that “investing in talent is investing in a more sustainable, more competitive economic model with greater capacity” to generate quality employment, connecting training with business needs.
The application period will be from September 15 to October 6, 2026, and will be submitted exclusively electronically. The initial allocation of 2.25 million euros may increase depending on budgetary availability.
This is the fourth edition of Diginnova, a program that since its inception has trained 1,609 people, of whom 324 found employment. The accumulated investment amounts to over 5.7 million euros.
