The management of Lanzarote César Manrique Airport has initiated a new procedure for the construction of a VIP lounge, with a budget of 2.9 million euros, following the failure of a previous tender.

After a failed attempt months ago, which had a budget of 2.23 million euros, the Lanzarote airport has launched a new tender for the VIP lounge with an investment of approximately 2.9 million euros. The deadline for submitting offers is set for June 15, with the aim of awarding and signing the contract in the second half of the year.
The works, which will have a maximum execution period of one year, aim to expand the VIP lounge's surface area to meet the growing needs of the aerodrome. The main terminal of Guacimeta, which became operational in 1999, handled half the current traveler traffic at that time. The new infrastructure will have a usable area of 600 square meters.
The project includes demolitions in the catering area and the creation of a new vertical communication core, featuring a staircase and an elevator, to provide an individualized access to the lounge.
Furthermore, operational issues with the central elevator and the mechanical walkway connecting the departure and arrival areas of the main terminal were reported during May. As an alternative, the exterior elevator next to the main car park and the stairs have been made available. Replacements for damaged machinery are planned for this month of June.
