The Contracting and Heritage area of the Ronda City Council has begun the marketing of cork from Montes de Propio, a municipal estate located within the municipality of Cortes de la Frontera. The sale price set amounts to 803,000 euros, including VAT, as reported by the municipal delegate for Contracting, Jorge Fernández.
This year's cork harvesting campaign focused on the El Berrueco area, covering an extension of 350 hectares. From this operation, a total of 9,241 Castilian quintals were obtained, equivalent to 425,000 kilos of cork, which have been divided into three lots according to their quality, as further detailed by Fernández.
The municipal official explained that the award will go to the highest economic bid. Interested companies have until August 17 to submit their offers through the Contractor's Profile on the Ronda City Council website. Additionally, the possibility of visiting Montes de Propio has been offered so that potential buyers can verify the quality of the material for sale.
Fernández highlighted the recognition and awards received by the Ronda City Council for the environmental management of Montes de Propio. He recalled that 15% of the generated income is allocated to the improvement of this natural space, located within the Los Arconocales Natural Park.
The delegate emphasized the importance of these funds for fire prevention, noting that they are invested in the sanitation of the tree mass, prevention work, maintenance of extraction routes, water sources, springs, and paths.
