The Provincial Council of Córdoba and the Lucena City Council are promoting the II Transport Professionals Meeting Ciudad de Lucena 2026, to be held from September 18 to 20.

The Provincial Council of Córdoba has announced its support for the II Transport Professionals Meeting Ciudad de Lucena 2026, an initiative organized by Atransur (Association of Transport Professionals of the South) with the collaboration of Iprodeco (Provincial Institute for Economic Development of Córdoba). The event will take place from September 18 to 20 in various venues in Lucena, including the Recinto Ferial (Exhibition Center) and the Auditorio Municipal Manuel Lara Cantizani (Municipal Auditorium).
This biennial meeting aims to boost and raise the profile of the transport and logistics sector, promoting professionalization, innovation, sustainability, equal opportunities, and job creation. The initiative seeks to establish Lucena as a professional, business, and institutional hub for road transport, reinforcing its strategic position in the province of Córdoba and its national projection.
The delegate for Economic Development, Promotion, and Employment of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Félix Romero, highlighted that the event positions Lucena as a provincial and national benchmark for the logistics sector. He emphasized the fundamental importance of this often-invisible sector for the movement of goods and the functioning of industry, reaffirming the Council's commitment to strengthening productive sectors to generate employment and opportunities.
Road freight transport is essential for the economy, goods distribution, territorial cohesion, and business competitiveness. The meeting will address key challenges such as the shortage of drivers, attracting young talent, the inclusion of women, improving working conditions, sustainability, and digital transformation.
The mayor of Lucena, Aurelio Fernández, pointed out the necessity of the transport sector for the town, given the absence of rail, air, or port connections. The City Council has supported this meeting from the outset, due to the town's close ties to industrial and business activity.
The event's program will include round tables, professional meetings, vehicle exhibitions, networking activities, street parades, and a driving and maneuvering skills competition, as explained by Javier Ruiz, director of Atransur. He stressed that institutional support is crucial for positioning Córdoba and Lucena at the center of discussions about the future of road freight transport.
The official inauguration will take place on Friday, September 18, at 8:00 PM, followed by a professional meeting and the opening of the vehicle exhibition. On Saturday, September 19, three round tables will be held: 'Road freight transport as an engine for economic and territorial development'; 'Sustainable transition and digital transformation of freight transport'; and 'Employment, equality, and generational change in freight transport'. The day will conclude with a truck tour and networking activities.
On Sunday, September 20, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, driving and maneuvering skills tests will be conducted on a specific circuit, followed by the presentation of trophies and the institutional closing of the meeting.
