The National Organization of Spanish Blind People (ONCE) has announced record figures in its economic and social activity in Malaga during the 2025 fiscal year. The delegate for ONCE in Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla, Cristobal Martínez, presented the annual report, describing the results as "historic figures" and unprecedented for the province.
According to the ‘Shared Value Report 2025’, for every 100 euros earned from lottery sales, 56.8% is returned to citizens in the form of prizes. In Malaga, this figure translates to 114.46 million euros directly returned to the province, surpassing the Andalusian average. Revenue growth compared to 2024 was 5.16%, versus a regional average of 4.69%.
In addition to prizes, the report details that 32.1 euros out of every 100 are allocated to salaries for vendors and workers, as well as management expenses across Spain. In Malaga, the entity has 3,455 employees, of whom 108 joined in the past year.
ONCE Inserta, an organization specializing in the training and employment integration of people with disabilities, has driven the creation of 649 jobs in Spain. Nationally, the ONCE Social Group has generated 111,324 jobs over the last decade. 59% of ONCE's total workforce in Spain, nearly 80,000 people, are employees with disabilities.
The entity has also managed 154.5 million euros in community funds for 2,234 projects focused on training, employment, and accessibility in Spain. The 'Ilunion companies', aimed at generating quality employment for people with disabilities and those at risk of social exclusion, have increased their turnover to 1,443.5 million euros this past year, operating 549 work centers across Spain.
Regarding social action, 11.1 out of every 100 euros are allocated to supporting individuals with all types of disabilities. The vice-president of the ONCE Territorial Council, Leonor Basallote, highlighted the work with blind individuals, those with visual impairments, and deafblind people to enhance their autonomy. In Malaga, 2,734 people are affiliated, with 82 joining in 2025. The 173 affiliated deafblind individuals received 5,386 hours of mediation and 1,918 personalized services.
Education is another fundamental pillar, with support provided to blind or visually impaired individuals from infancy through university. Last academic year, aid was given to 328 people in Malaga. Volunteer services facilitated 4,377 services with 6,783 volunteer hours.
As part of the presentation, Malaga affiliate José Manuel Fernández introduced 'Entreno', a mobile application for neurological training, emphasizing "inclusion and accessibility" as its core features.
Cristobal Martínez stressed "unity" as the driving force behind these results, drawing a parallel with the Spanish national football team's victory to illustrate how "a cohesive team" can achieve common goals such as "inclusion, equality, and unity."
