The event, organized by the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) at the Jaén Exhibition and Congress Palace (Ifeja), was held to mark Safer Internet Day 2026. The initiative included in-person participation from students in the province and online connections from over a thousand educational centers nationwide.
During the conference, crucial topics such as social media risks, the importance of seeking help in cyberbullying situations, and the functioning of algorithms and generative AI were discussed. The interactive format allowed students to answer questions and practical cases related to privacy and the responsible use of digital platforms.
“"They are going to present us with real cases, because they can happen to us and are happening in daily life now."
The didactic workshop, led by an educational popularizer, presented real-life scenarios to students to assess their reactions to cases of sextortion, the dissemination of AI-manipulated images, or potential deceptions in video games and social networks. Participants had to debate and vote on the decisions to be made in each scenario.
A support technician from INCIBE's 017 cybersecurity helpline warned about the increase in situations related to images and videos manipulated by Artificial Intelligence among minors. The importance of seeking help and using resources such as the 017 phone number, also available via WhatsApp and Telegram, was highlighted.
“"Sometimes they harm classmates and also commit a crime without knowing it because they treat it as a game."
From the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF), it was emphasized that cybersecurity is fundamental to protecting the identity, privacy, reputation, and digital well-being of young people. The need to use technology critically and responsibly was stressed, especially in the face of phenomena such as hoaxes, deepfakes, and cyberbullying.
The general director of INCIBE urged students to become “ambassadors” of cybersecurity in their homes, promoting dialogue about these risks within the family environment. The conference concluded with the awards ceremony for the 'What is 017 to you?' competition, attended by the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function.
