Participation in this congress, one of the main European events in fusion technology, served as a platform to showcase the progress of the DONES Programme to the international scientific community.
Philippe Cara, DONES Programme Manager, detailed the current status of the design and construction of IFMIF-DONES, as well as its experimental capabilities and strategic role in developing materials and technologies for future fusion energy.
For his part, Pablo Araya presented the poster titled “Commissioning of STUMM-PROTO at UGR-DONES: Prototype Implementation and Design Input for the Future STUMM System”. This work addressed the commissioning of the STUMM-PROTO prototype at UGR-DONES and the main results obtained, which will serve as a basis for the future STUMM system.
Furthermore, Gonzalo Martín presented the poster “60Co Irradiation Tests on Individual IFMIF-DONES STUMM Particle Detectors”, focusing on tests conducted on various STUMM detectors using cobalt-60 irradiation and the characterization of their response.
SOFT 2026 once again brought together the global fusion community—scientists, engineers, industry representatives, and exhibitors—to share the latest results and advances in all areas of fusion technology. The conference included invited talks, oral and poster presentations, as well as a large industrial and technological exhibition.
