Iberdrola has expanded collective self-consumption in the province of Jaén with the inauguration of three new solar communities in Arjonilla, Torredonjimeno, and the capital, enabling 360 families to access renewable energy.

These installations, with a combined installed capacity of 181.24 kWp and comprising 394 photovoltaic panels, will generate 260 MWh annually. This will prevent the emission of over 53 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. The company highlights that any customer within a five-kilometer radius can join these communities without personal investment or the need for their own solar panels.
The largest solar community is located in Arjonilla, featuring 160 panels and 56.12 kWp, serving 150 families. In Torredonjimeno, the installation includes 112 panels (51.52 kWp) and will benefit 100 households. The third community, situated in Jaén capital, has 122 solar panels (56.12 kWp), allowing another 110 families access to collective self-consumption.
Interested individuals can find more information at Iberdrola's customer service points in Jaén or by calling the toll-free number 900 92 33 33. With these projects, Iberdrola now exceeds one hundred active solar communities in Andalusia and over 1,000 across Spain, facilitating renewable energy access for more than 100,000 families.
The company pioneered self-consumption solutions in 2015 and launched the solar community model in 2019 to address the reality of most of the population residing in multi-story buildings, enabling nearby residents to access local renewable energy.
