Granada promotes agri-food products with 'Gusto del Sur' seal

The province of Granada adds 31 entities to the 'Gusto del Sur' quality seal, a brand promoted by the Junta de Andalucía to promote the region's food and beverages.

A total of 31 entities from the province of Granada have joined the 'Gusto del Sur' quality seal, an initiative promoted by the Junta de Andalucía with the aim of enhancing the promotion, commercialization, and internationalization of Andalusian food and beverages.
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, has reported that at the Andalusian level, there are already 245 entities and 752 products registered under this brand, which seeks to improve the competitiveness of the agri-food sector.
Fernández-Pacheco highlighted that the 'Gusto del Sur' brand is increasingly recognized in Spain and Europe thanks to promotional activities and participation in agri-food fairs. The initiative aims to emphasize the quality, unique flavors, and sustainability parameters of Andalusian products, responding to an increasingly demanding consumer.
By province, Jaén leads the list with 59 entities, followed by Córdoba (37), Granada (31), Seville (around thirty), Almería (24), Huelva (22), Málaga (21), and Cádiz (18). Entities from Alfaro (La Rioja) and Gijón (Asturias) are also registered.
The olive oil sector has the most entities, with 110, followed by fruits and vegetables (39) and wines and vinegars (36). Other represented sectors include table olives, preserves, sweets, nuts, hams and cured meats, fish, and prepared dishes.
Furthermore, a total of 103 entities comply with some Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), 31 with some Geographical Indication (GI), and 93 with Organic Production, among other certifications.
