Spanish multinational Escribano Mechanical&Engineering (EM&E), a leader in defense and aeronautics, will establish operations in Viator, generating 100 direct and 300 indirect jobs.

The municipality of Viator is set to welcome a significant player in the Defense and Aeronautics sector. Spanish company Escribano Mechanical&Engineering (EM&E), headquartered in Alcalá de Henares with an annual turnover of 300 million euros, has agreed to establish a strategic production center in the town. This project, which will create 100 direct and 300 indirect jobs, reinforces the economic development strategy of the Viator City Council.
The framework agreement, signed between the mayor of Viator, Manuel Jesús Flores Malpica, and EM&E representative Javier Escribano Ruiz, lays the groundwork for the installation of a manufacturing plant and logistics center for defense components and subsystems. This initiative positions Viator as a key hub for the defense and security ecosystem in the province of Almería, introducing a completely new productive sector to the region.
A cornerstone of this project is the creation of stable, high-skilled employment. The City Council plans to utilize the Comprehensive Training Center of La Juaida to develop Dual Vocational Training programs, ensuring local youth have direct access to the technical skills demanded by the company. The mayor highlighted that the initiative will facilitate the arrival of an industry with above-average salaries, boosting the local supply chain and prioritizing the hiring of residents through a new Local Employment Exchange.

"This project represents a significant expansion of our industrial capacity. We are facilitating the arrival of an industry that generates above-average salaries and will boost our entire local supply chain, always prioritizing the hiring of our neighbors through a new Local Employment Exchange."

EM&E, founded by the Escribano family, has experienced remarkable growth since its beginnings in 1989. It currently operates five manufacturing facilities in Alcalá de Henares and holds an extensive order backlog exceeding 1 billion euros. The company, which sells to 25 countries, has expanded its industrial network both nationally and internationally, with offices in Brussels and Kuala Lumpur, and research centers in Avilés.
The mayor also emphasized the significance of the Legion's presence as an Experimental Brigade in Viator, placing the municipality on the map for military innovation at a European level. The establishment of EM&E aligns with the strategy to consolidate a defense ecosystem in the area.
