The Fundación Caja Rural del Sur has renewed its collaboration agreement with the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Condado de Huelva, reaffirming its commitment to the promotion and research of the wine sector in the province.

The Fundación Caja Rural del Sur and the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Condado de Huelva have sealed the renewal of their collaboration, an agreement aimed at strengthening promotion and research within the wine sector of Huelva. This agreement underscores the Foundation's commitment to the quality of the region's wines and vinegars, as well as to initiatives that promote modernization and value the work of winegrowers.
The signing of the agreement, which took place between the presidents of the Designations of Origin, Vicente Pérez García de Prado (Condado de Huelva and Vinagre del Condado de Huelva) and José Luis García‑Palacios Álvarez (Fundación Caja Rural del Sur), accompanied by the Secretary of the Regulatory Council, Antonio Izquierdo, will allow for the continuation of promotion actions and research projects that both entities have jointly developed over the years.
The agreement also includes support for training activities and awareness campaigns promoted by the Regulatory Council. Special attention will be given to agricultural modernization, rural development, and the creation of technical studies. Furthermore, the Foundation will facilitate the use of its cultural centers for organizing awareness events related to the sector.
Both organizations have highlighted the importance of this historic collaboration, which has been maintained since the creation of both entities and continues to bring value to the territory. Currently, the PDO Condado de Huelva, PDO Vinagre del Condado de Huelva, and the PGI Vino Naranja del Condado de Huelva encompass approximately 2,050 hectares of vineyards, with the Zalema grape being the predominant variety. This vineyard is distributed across 18 municipalities in the province of Huelva, involving 25 wineries and cooperatives, thus consolidating the region as a benchmark in Andalusian viticulture.
