The grape harvest at the Sanlúcar cooperatives Virgen de la Caridad and Covisan, part of the Marco de Jerez region, began a few days ago, earlier than in previous years. The harvest in this area commenced in late July.
Javier González Bianchi, president of the Virgen de la Caridad cooperative and Bodegas Caydsa, explained the initial work and the entity's expectations for this harvest to the mayor on-site. Subsequently, Carmen Álvarez moved to the Covisan cooperative, where its president, Federico Galán, updated the mayor on the entity's intense activity in these early harvest days and provided production data. Both entities indicated that the grapes are very healthy and of high quality.
The mayor, who directly oversees the municipal responsibilities for Agriculture and Fisheries, reiterated the municipality's support for the work carried out by both cooperatives not only during this period but throughout the year. She emphasized the significance of the wine sector for the city's economy, with Manzanilla de Sanlúcar de Barrameda as its primary hallmark.
Álvarez highlighted the rural road repair works executed since the beginning of the municipal term, such as the Camino Viejo de El Puerto, the Camino del Armijo in Miraflores Alta and Miraflores Baja, the Camino del Hornillo, the Camino del Amarguillo, and the Camino del Tiznado (scheduled for a second intervention soon), as well as the asphalting of the Camino del Cortijillo, as a reflection of the City Council's support for the sector.
