The Chamber of Commerce of Málaga and the Consular Corps accredited in Málaga signed a collaboration agreement this Tuesday. The objective is to establish a stable framework for institutional cooperation to drive internationalization, attract investment, and promote the economic development of the province of Málaga.
The agreement was signed by the president of the Málaga Chamber of Commerce, José Carlos Escribano, and the dean of the Consular Corps accredited in Málaga, José Luis Ramos Luque, during a session held at the chamber's headquarters, attended by the consuls accredited in the province.
José Carlos Escribano highlighted that the agreement provides an opportunity to "establish a stable framework for collaboration and better leverage the capabilities and contacts that each party can contribute." He noted that the Chamber maintains constant contact with the business community and understands its needs, while the Consular Corps represents a significant network of knowledge, relationships, and connections with numerous countries and markets.
The agreement includes the joint design and development of informational sessions, business meetings, trade missions, country or economic bloc promotion weeks, and initiatives for international companies interested in establishing themselves in Málaga. It will support the internationalization of Málaga-based companies and facilitate the establishment of foreign companies in the province.
José Luis Ramos Luque emphasized the importance of expanding the role of consulates into the business sphere, not only assisting citizens residing in Málaga but also collaborating with companies looking to set up operations there. He cited recent initiatives, such as a visit from a Romanian delegation and interest from Paraguay in creating product distribution networks.
The agreement also contemplates holding business meetings, investment forums, and trade missions to generate business opportunities between Málaga companies and economic operators from the countries represented by the Consular Corps. It aims to boost economic relations with regions such as the Visegrád Group, the Organization of Turkic States, MERCOSUR, and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Furthermore, the agreement will provide companies with information on foreign markets, documentary procedures, certifications, regulatory barriers, technical standards, promotion channels, and internationalization support tools. The signing took place during a working session where the Chamber's main areas of activity and business support services were presented to the consular representatives.
